Map/Still:The boundaries of Palestine have changed through the years. When King David ruled Palestine in ancient times, its boundary was east of the Jordan River. In modern times most people think of Palestine as a smaller area. In 1947 the United Nations approved a plan to split Palestine into Jewish and Arab states, with Jerusalem in an international district. Israel was created in 1948.
